Online protection

In my post earlier i stated why pay when you can get it for free, then to go on to say that the most pay simply for the security. This is what online presence protection is all about, paying for your security. I find some online protection helpful but at the same time a pain. But is it not worth it for the peace of mind. But not all online protect can cost you money. By simply cleaning up after yourself you can protect your online presence.

Why pay when i can get it for free

In discussing web presence, free for me is the way to go. I do not need(in this time in life) any “pay presence”. I find what i use now sufficient and not difficult. Yes it can be slow and there can be difficulties associated but it’s free and it works for me. I know others that do pay for certain services from sites and most of them also have free blogs. Having both services: pay and free, it turns out that they don’t really know why they are paying for stuff they do not need right now nor use. They use their blogs more then anything else. The only real difference i see is by paying you would have more security, which i guess if you get down to it security is what most are paying for. For now i will take my chances because why pay when i can get it for free.

Podcasting

While i can view podcasting as an advantage in some cases, i find it more annoying then anything. Being more of a visual learner, i prefer to sit in on a conversation/lecture rather then listen to it. When i do this i find myself more lost then anything. While there is video podcasts(which i prefer of the types) I still do not find myself watching them. In general i do not gravitate toward podcasting. But in all reality it is a growing phase esp. in the school system. University’s use podcasts for lecture use and news within the school, but they are not the only ones. Middle schools and elementary schools are now starting to use podcasts. They look at this as a tool to better education in the younger generation.

When talking about web conferencing; it could be assumed that skype could be used for this such thing. While skype is trying to accomplish this, businesses would rather use other sites for web conferencing.

Facebook is a great technological tool in many ways; however, it can also have its negativities. One, which is associated to what we talked in class about-(the relationship issues), is exactly that, relationship issues. Many feel that facebook can cause problems in relationship, but personally i think it can only add to the problem-which i have seen first hand in my family-. While doing web searches i came across this page that gives information on different engines(as well as other stuff). It’s kind of an up to date look at what is going on in the world of internet, and is also used as a marketing tool. http://searchenginewatch.com/

‘blogs’

I am new to this blog thing so i did a search to see what types are out there and what types are popular/common. I have found so many, i had no idea there are that many. I found blogs about movies like a starwars blog, fashion blogs-one girl lets the world know what she is wearing everyday; and another informs readers on celebs clothing. There are blogs about food, restaurants, relationships, schools, kids(which i found to be rather amusing) grandparents, and day-to-day life. I even stumbled upon one that was about the family pets. While some of these were more for amusement, i found others actually helpful. With this iam starting to see the advantages to blogs.
